Rev. J. Asare-Dankwah to celebrate Blue Mass Sunday, October 22, 2017, at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in Historic Tremé.

“A Blue Mass is a Thanksgiving Mass in gratitude for the generous services of public safety personnel who serve our community each day. “All law enforcement, emergency, and fire personnel are invited and encouraged to attend, including retired members,” said Fr. Asare.

Members of the public safety profession, particularly police officers, have been under the microscope in recent years due to increased criminal activity in the City of New Orleans. For the more than 1,500 full-time law enforcement officers in New Orleans, these activities — combined with the daily challenge of facing unknown situations — can take a toll on morale.

Public Safety Professionals to include New Orleans Police Department, Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office, New Orleans Fire Department, and New Orleans Emergency Medical Services will gather for a Blue Mass Sunday, October 22, 2017, at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church located at 1923 St. Philip Street in the heart of Historic Tremé.

The community is invited.
